A prospective two-year contract renewal between UPS Airlines and the Independent Pilots Association (IPA) was revealed today.
The short-term agreement includes contract improvements for retirement and pay. Before the IPA submits the proposed contract to all UPS pilots, certain terms of the deal won’t be revealed.
“Over the next month we will present this tentative agreement for a two-year contract extension to our crewmembers with an unqualified recommendation for ratification,” said IPA President Captain Robert Travis. “This tentative agreement is unanimously approved and endorsed by the six-pilot IPA Executive Board.”
A majority of UPS’s pilots must approve the contract. On August 3, the results of the pilots’ vote will be known. The new deal would prolong the IPA’s relationship with UPS through September 1, 2025, if approved.
The largest transportation firm in the world, United Parcel Service, employs more than 3,300 professional pilots who are represented by the IPA in collective bargaining. Louisville, Kentucky serves as the IPA’s administrative hub.
