After an aircraft entered restricted airspace, President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden were evacuated from their Rehoboth Beach home to a local fire station.
An aircraft entered restricted airspace around 1:00 pm local time, forcing the Bidens to a secure position at a nearby fire station, according to a statement released by the US Secret Service earlier today.
“Shortly before 1 p.m. today a privately owned aircraft entered the restricted airspace over Rehoboth, Delaware after mistakenly entering a secured area.” the Secret Service said in a statement. The aircraft was quickly escorted out of the region by two military jets after the incident was detected.
According to US Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi, “Preliminary investigation reveals the pilot was not on the proper radio channel, was not following the NOTAMS (Notice to Airmen) that had been filed, and was not following published flight guidance. The United States Secret Service will be interviewing the pilot.”
Law enforcement closed off Rehoboth Ave. while on the ground. Officials have established that the Bidens are secure and that no further threats exist.
