After allegedly getting into a heated argument over seat assignments, two flight attendants working for American Eagle allegedly refused to cooperate with one another, causing the aircraft to be delayed by about two hours.
Ashley Brewer, an ESPN reporter, who was traveling to see her boyfriend at the time, recorded the encounter. “My flight can’t take off because two flight attendants got in a fight and now are REFUSING to work together,” Ashley wrote on Twitter.
Explaining what led to the row, Ashley wrote: “A lady in first class asked to switch seats with a guy in coach so she could sit by her husband. One attendant said yes, other said no not allowed. Turned into a heated argument. SO DUMB”.
While ground workers boarded the aircraft in an effort to resolve the issue, Ashley captured the incident in an accompanying TikTok video.
Ashley claims that one of the two flight attendants on board the small regional airplane got his luggage together and unexpectedly deplaned in front of everyone while everyone was still seated in their seats.
The second crew member who had been involved in the altercation later deplaned, making Ashley and the other passengers wait for another hour while a replacement was located.
The flight eventually took off around two hours late after another long delay while a substitute flight attendant was located.
“Screwing customers over because of their own personal emotions affecting their work,” Ashley wrote in response to one of her followers. “Most unprofessional thing I’ve ever witnessed in my life”.
The trip looked to be run by Utah-based Skywest Airlines, which has agreements for regional services with some of the nation’s largest airlines, including American Airlines and Delta Air.
