According to a news release, Southwest Airlines launched a three-day pricing deal on Tuesday, with 40 percent off base fares for flights from late August to early November.

Southwest Airlines vice president of marketing and digital experience Bill Tierney said in a statement, “We’re thrilled to offer our customers a substantial discount on our low fares for flights as soon as late summer and into the fall,”

Tierney went on to say that the offer will make travel “more reasonable and convenient” for customers.

Customers can enter the code “FALL40” in the promo box on Southwest.com to save 40% on “qualified base fares” purchased Tuesday through Thursday at 11:59 p.m. central time. Travel must take place between August 16 and November 5 to qualify for the reductions, which are applied before taxes and fees.

The offer applies to “Wanna Get Away,” “Wanna Get Away Plus,” “Anytime,” and “Business Select” one-way and round-trip fares.

Southwest’s new Wanna Get Away Plus ticket, which includes same-day adjustments and more, is now available.

What to know before you book your next trip: Is travel insurance worth it?

The greatest one-month increase in airline tickets since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking data in 1963 was 8.6 percent in April.

Travel expenditure outpaced general retail spending in the first three months of this year, but that trend is slowing. Consumers spent an average of $1,290 on vacation in March, compared to $819 on general items, according to statistics from wealth management firm Personal Capital.
