Beginning in mid-February, Singapore Airlines will stop service from Los Angeles to Taipei, Taiwan, marking the conclusion of the airline’s winter schedule.

According to airline sources, SQ 35, the last flight from Los Angeles to Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport, will depart on February 16.

Singapore Airlines now operates three flights each week from Singapore to Los Angeles via Taipei, Taiwan, flying eastbound on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. On Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, flights depart for the west.

The fifth freedom flight only flies between Singapore and Taipei or Taipei and Los Angeles, due to Taiwan’s continued transit embargo as a result of Covid-19. It does not fly between Singapore and Los Angeles.

Due to the continuing restriction, all flights to Taiwan can only carry single-sector passengers. Singapore Airlines, on the other hand, uses its three-cabin Airbus A350-900 in a three-class configuration, including economy class, to fly nonstop from Los Angeles to Singapore every day.

Since its restoration on Aug. 25, the airline’s Los Angeles to Taipei, Taiwan service has been operational for less than six months.

Singapore Airlines resumed flights between Los Angeles and Taipei, Taiwan, after a 13-year break last summer, in order to capitalize on passenger and cargo demand outside of its home base.

Due to high demand for travel to the United States from Taiwan for vaccination tourism at the time, the airline’s fifth freedom route was reactivated.

Taiwan’s China Airlines and EVA Air are the only other major carriers that fly nonstop between the United States and Taiwan. In 2023, Taiwan’s new Starlux Airlines will begin operations to Los Angeles.
