Nine Embraer E190-E2 aircraft will be delivered to Scoot, a low-cost division of Singapore Airlines.

The first jet is expected to be delivered in 2024 as part of a leasing arrangement between the expansion and lessor Azzora.

“The agreement to include nine new E190-E2 aircraft in our fleet allows us to continue operating a modern and fuel-efficient fleet and support our network growth strategy by serving thinner routes to non-metro destinations out of Singapore,” Leslie Thng, Scoot’s CEO said. “As the first Singaporean carrier to operate the E2s, we are excited to be working with our partners at Embraer to improve our network connectivity and increase travel options for our customers.”

Scoot now has 48 operational aircraft in its fleet, including 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 5 Airbus A320neo, according to ch-aviation.

Since its founding in November 2011, Scoot has expanded its operations to operate in 18 countries and offer flights to 66 locations worldwide.

The newest E-planes E2 family of commercial planes from Embraer, which went into service in 2018, includes the E190-E2.

The E-Jets E2 family of aircraft is operated by airlines like KLM, Porter, and Azul, while additional operators like Royal Jordanian, Salam Air, and TUI have recently been announced.

“We welcome Scoot as the region’s first major operator of the E2. The team at our APAC headquarters in Singapore is proud to support the airline in its quest to enhance connectivity and growth in the region, supporting the further development of its Singapore hub,” Arjan Meijer, CEO Embraer Commercial Aviation said.

John Evans, Azorra’s CEO, said he was “thrilled” to support Scoot’s expansion and its selection of the E2 is a “resounding endorsement” of Embraer.
