Onboard SpiceJet flight SG-945 from Mumbai to Andal, India, severe turbulence is said to have injured at least 17 passengers and three crew members.

The SpiceJet Boeing 737-800, registered as VT-SLH, was flying SG-945 from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (MOB) to Andal Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport (RDP), but experienced severe turbulence during the descent.

The plane landed safely despite the severe turbulence. Shortly after the event, footage of the chaos aboard the plane surfaced on social media. Turbulence caused part of the cabin ceiling to collapse, and people’s possessions were scattered all over the plane, according to the footage.

According to multiple Indian media sources, a number of persons suffered head injuries and were transported to the hospital. The incident was investigated by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
