Qantas, the national airline of Australia, is planning to discontinue the COVID-19 vaccination requirements for its overseas passengers.

In accordance with the airline’s announcement, all Qantas flights will accept unvaccinated passengers beginning on July 19, 2022.

“From Tuesday 19 July 2022, the Qantas Group will no longer require passengers on international flights operated by the Qantas Group to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” the airline said in a memo seen by local media.

The news followed the federal government’s declaration on July 3, 2022, that Australian visitors will no longer be required to show documentation of their COVID-19 vaccination status in order to enter the country.

Employees at Qantas must still receive the COVID-19 vaccination, nevertheless.

The airline suggested that travelers continue to confirm the specific entry criteria for their intended destinations.

“Vaccination against COVID-19 may still be required by certain countries, so passengers should check the requirements of the country they are traveling to,” Qantas said.
