Porter Airlines (Canada) is the E2’s first North American customer. The airline has placed a definitive order for 30 E195-E2s, with the option to purchase an additional 50 aircraft. The first deliveries will take place in the second half of 2022.
The transaction will be included in Embraer’s backlog for the second quarter and is valued at USD5.82 billion at list price with all options exercised. This notification, which was first made public in May 2021, adds the previously unknown purchase rights and customer name. The airline is developing an expansion strategy to supplement its present route network from Toronto’s downtown Billy Bishop Airport.
The new E2s will fly from Toronto Pearson Airport, Montréal, Ottawa, and Halifax to popular business and leisure locations in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and Mexico. The E195-E2 seats 120 to 146 passengers, and Porter’s E2 configuration plans will be announced in due course.
“This is a defining moment in Porter’s history,” stated Michael Deluce, President and CEO of Porter Airlines. Today, we set the groundwork for a new, more comprehensive service for our consumers, presented in genuine Porter elegance and comfort.
With its wide cabin, quiet operations, and lack of middle seats, Embraer’s E2 gives the refined comfortable experience on which Porter has established its reputation for service and quality. Our clients will enjoy the experience on this plane just as much as we do at Porter.”
“With this order for up to 80 of our largest aircraft, the E2 is making a remarkable North American debut,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. The E195-E2 is the quietest and most fuel-efficient aircraft in the sector, and it also has exceptional economic performance that shows through.”
Our partners, @PorterAirlines, made a big announcement today that is a positive for the aviation industry and our airport.
