Oman Air will join Oneworld in 2024, becoming the third new member of the alliance in the previous five years and the most recent Middle Eastern airline to do so.
The airline with its headquarters in Muscat was chosen as a Oneworld member by the Oneworld governing board, which is made up of the chief executives of all Oneworld member airlines, and the announcement was made at IATA’s 78th Annual General Meeting in Doha.
As Oman Air’s sponsor, Qatar Airways, which joined Oneworld in 2013, will offer the airline direction and support as it joins the alliance.
Akbar Al Baker, the group CEO of Qatar Airways, was appointed by Oneworld to lead the Governing Board of the airline alliance in May 2021.

After Oman Air joins the alliance in 2024, users of the carrier’s Sindbad frequent flyer program will be able to accrue and use points on any member airline of the alliance.
Duqm and Khasab in Oman as well as Chittagong will be among the additional locations Oman Air will add to the Oneworld network (Bangladesh). The three Oman Air lounges in Muscat, Salalah, and Bangkok are also accessible to Oneworld Emerald, Oneworld Sapphire, and premium cabin clients.
