Oman Air said today that it will apply for Oneworld membership. The airline has requested assistance from Qatar Airways in its bid to join the alliance.
According to Reuters, Oman Air has confirmed its intention to join the Oneworld alliance. On its application, the airline will collaborate with Qatar Airways. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar’s CEO, is also the head of the Oneworld alliance.
Oman Air is not currently a member of an airline alliance, but it is looking to join one in order to extend the travel alternatives available to its passengers. Oman Air has been on a growth track in recent years, and it feels that joining the alliance will help it advance.
In other news, Oman Air, the Sultanate of Oman’s national carrier, will restart flights between Muscat and London (Heathrow) on September 22, 2021.
The flights left Muscat at 14:25 local time and arrive in London at 19:10 local time three times every week, on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. On Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, flights from London depart at 20:50 local time and arrive in Muscat at 07:15 local time.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be used for all flights.
