140 passengers were aboard a Red Air McDonnell Douglas MD-82 when it caught fire upon landing at Miami International Airport (MIA).
Flight L5203 from Santo Domingo (SDQ) to MIA was being operated by the aircraft, which had the registration HI1064. Flightradar24 data shows that it touched down on June 21, 2022, at 5:38 PM EDT (17:38 GMT).
Red Air said in a statement that the plane had 10 cabin staff members and 130 passengers.
Three people have been admitted to hospitals as a result of the collision, according to CBS Miami, but previous reports indicated at least four people were hurt. According to a statement from the US National Transportation Safety Board, the accident’s cause is being investigated.

A 2020 startup airline with a base in the Dominican Republic is called Red Air. It runs one MD-81, three MD-82s, including the damaged HI1064, and three MD-82s, according to Planespotters data. The airline only operates flights between its SDQ and MIA bases.
The MD-82 that was involved in the incident had been a 1990 delivery to American Airlines (A1G) (AAL) and was 31 years old at the time. In 2021, LASER Airlines of Venezuela sold it to Red Air.
