JetBlue Airways, a prominent American low-cost carrier, wants to add up to 5,000 new employees by the end of 2022.

On March 28, 2022, at a hiring event hosted at JetBlue Airways’ hangar at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), in New York City, the airline revealed its intention to grow its workforce capacity by adding a total of 5,000 new roles.

The organization will fill a variety of positions, including those in airport and ground operations, technical and in-flight operations, and other support center positions.

JetBlue Airways currently employs up to 8,000 people in New York City. However, as the tourism and travel industry recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic disruption, the corporation predicts the forthcoming summer season of 2022 to be the busiest in its 22-year existence.

“As New York’s Hometown Airline, JetBlue’s (JBLU) commitment goes well beyond the flights we operate here,” Robin Hayes, the chief executive officer of JetBlue (JBLU) was quoted in a statement.

He continued: “We’re thrilled to partner with Mayor Adams to support his administration’s Blueprint for New York City’s Economic Recovery by encouraging travel to New York City.

We’ll do so by recruiting thousands of new JetBlue (JBLU) crewmembers in 2022, as well as maintaining our community involvement to build a strong pipeline for future JetBlue (JBLU) crewmembers and a more resilient workforce for New York City.”
