Iraqi Airways is prepared to receive its first Airbus A220 aircraft, which arrived at Mirabel Airport (YMX) in Canada from the A220 assembly facility. This is the first of five A220s that will be flying to the carrier.

The YI-ARE-registered A220-300 airplane of Iraqi Airways is on its way to its new home at Baghdad International Airport (BGW). The plane is currently parked at Manchester Airport (MAN) in the United Kingdom, according to Flightradar24.com.

Iraq’s national carrier will be one of the region’s first A220 operators.

The A220-300 of Iraqi Airways can carry up to 132 passengers in two classes: 12 in business class and 120 in economy class.

The A220 series of aircraft, which includes the A220-100 and A220-300 models, is designed for the 100-150 seat market.

The maximum range of the A220-100 is 6,390 kilometers, whereas the A220-300 is 6,297 kilometers. Only Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation PW1500G geared turbofan engine is available for the aircraft series.

As of November 2021, about 180 Airbus A220s had been delivered to 13 clients around the world, according to Airbus.
