Due to problems with the world’s supply chain, Indian low-cost airline IndiGo grounded over 30 planes.

The operator of IndiGo, Interglobal Aviation, justified the decision to temporarily ground dozens of aircraft in a statement seen by Reuters. Interglobal Aviation cited maintenance concerns as the reason for the move.

While deploying sufficient capacity to service our clients is our top concern right now, InterGlobe Aviation said, “we are actively working with our OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partners to develop mitigation measures that should assure the continuity of our network and operations.”

In order to lessen the delays, IndiGo is apparently also examining wet lease alternatives for an undefined number of aircraft.

As of the beginning of November 2022, more than 75 aircraft operated by Indian airlines are currently grounded as a result of the airlines’ inability to address engine and plane maintenance issues as a result of a lack of parts, according to a previous report by aviation consultancy firm Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Data from Planespotters.com show that IndiGo’s fleet now has a total of 272 aircraft.
