A TUI Airways Airbus A330-right engine caught fire as it touched down at Manchester International Airport (MAN).
On July 30, 2022, the aircraft, registered 9H-CFS, was parked at Terminal 2 after having just completed flight TOM2609 from Menorca-Mahón Airport (MAH) in Spain to the British airport. At that time, the right Pratt & Whitney PW4168A engine started to produce smoke.
Fire crews quickly intervened and doused the aircraft. “We can confirm flight TOM2609 Mahon to Manchester airport experienced a technical fault on arrival to the stand and was met by the fire service,” a TUI spokesperson said, before pointing out that all passengers had disembarked when the incident took place.
