At Los Angeles International Airport, a passenger was hurt after jumping off of a taxiing plane.
On Friday night, the plane had just begun to draw away from the gate when the man attempted to enter the cockpit but was unsuccessful, so he opened the service door and dropped down the emergency chute into the concrete below.
Authorities say he was brought into custody after suffering non-life threatening injuries.
Later, he was transferred to the hospital.
At the time, SkyWest’s twin-engine Embraer 175 was flying to Salt Lake City as United Express flight 5365. It returned to its gate and remained there for several hours.
Although no one else on board was hurt, the FBI launched an inquiry into what happened.
On Thursday, a motorist broke through a barrier at a FedEx cargo facility and entered the airstrip at the same airport. As the automobile crossed runways, police pursued it.
The driver was arrested, but no one was hurt, according to police. Two runways were briefly closed as a result of the event.
