Flight #AA3 from JFK to LAX has been diverted to Madison.
After reports of smoke in the cabin, an American Airlines flight from New York to Los Angeles was forced to make an emergency landing in Wisconsin.
After landing at a regional airfield in Madison, all 190 passengers and crew members were uninjured.
On Sunday around 2:20 p.m. Central Time, it happened.
The flight encountered a mechanical issue, according to American Airlines, which woke several of the passengers.
“When I woke up, I saw the smoke. It was like coming from the bottom of the plane, and it was about two rows ahead of me. So I panicked and got scared and ran to the back,” one passenger said.
The plane was kept in Madison for inspection, and another plane was brought in to continue the journey to Los Angeles.
