The right engine of a Ryanair Boeing 737 was damaged as it began taxiing prematurely after pushback with the tow bar still attached.
On the 17th of December, a Boeing 737-800 with the registration 9H-QAH was scheduled to fly from Frankfurt International Airport to Puerto del Rosario Airport as flight FR2907.
Until the pilots finished taxiing, the tow bar remained attached below the engine.
In the end, the friction of the tow bar caused sparks to fly out of the engine. Sparks could be seen in the footage that was uploaded on the internet.
On the 18th of December, the plane was grounded and transferred to the low-cost carrier’s maintenance base in Berlin.
