After a 13-year-old child became disruptive, an American Airlines flight from Maui to Los Angeles was diverted to Honolulu.
According to witnesses, around an hour into the flight, the youngster attempted to kick out the window adjacent to his seat and became aggressive with his mother. Other passengers may be seen in the video assisting with the restraint of the adolescent traveler.
According to a witness, the youngster may have been shouting, striking, and kicking the seats in front of him due to a developmental condition.
“It was enough to make me worried about my family,” said an aircraft passenger who did not want to be recognized. “I honestly feel sorry for the airlines because they have to be extremely careful.”
The flight was diverted to Honolulu, where passengers were rerouted or given hotel accommodations.
According to American Airlines, the boy was restrained using flex cuffs rather than duct tape. After landing, he was placed in plastic handcuffs and led off the plane.
There were no arrests made, and no one was injured.
