In 2023, 90 million tourists are anticipated to visit China or go overseas, providing the aviation industry with much-needed growth.

The prediction was made in a research published on February 20, 2023, by the China Tourism Academy, which also concentrated on the domestic tourism sector in China.

China started loosening travel restrictions earlier this year in an effort to slow the spread of COVID.

As a result, numerous airline companies have started up new flights to the second-largest economy in the world or increased the number of existing ones.

British Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Swiss, and KLM have all announced plans to start flying to China again or increase the number of flights already scheduled.

According to Reuters, there will be 90 million inbound and outgoing visitors in 2020, which will increase annually and reach 31.5% of pre-pandemic levels.

Domestic travel is expected to produce $580.8 billion, an increase of 95% from the previous year and 71% of 2019 levels.

Altogether, it’s anticipated that 4.55 billion people would travel domestically.

“It is expected that the tourism market will enter a new channel of expected strengthening in the second quarter, and the summer vacation is expected to usher in a full recovery,” the report said.
