After a three-year hiatus, Ethiopian Airlines (ET) will start operating direct flights to New York through Abidjan.
In a statement issued on February 23, 2023, the Addis-Abeba-based airline announced that it would resume its four-weekly service to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) beginning on May 29, 2023. In June 2019, the route started to be used.
Nevertheless, because to the COVID-19 epidemic, services on the route were stopped in March 2020. In October 2020, the airline started operating its Lomé-to-New York route again.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said: “We are excited to bring back our direct flight between Abidjan and New York.”
Tasew added: “We have long been offering flights with the best connectivity between the US and Africa. The resumption of our Abidjan-New York flight brings back the flexibility that our passengers love.”
