Ethiopian Airlines (EA) has added a new passenger route to Washington, D.C. via Lomé, Togo, bringing the airline’s total frequency to ten weekly flights.

Prior to the introduction of new services, EA offered seven weekly flights from Dublin to Washington, DC.

According to a statement made by EA, the new route will be served by its Boeing 787-800 aircraft on three-weekly passenger flights.

On June 1, 2022, the airline began operations to Washington, DC via Lomé, Togo.

Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, spoke about the new service’s launch and the growing demand between Africa and the United States.

“We are very pleased to launch a new passenger service connecting Lomé with Washington DC,” said Tasew in the statement. “The U.S. is one of our most important markets due to the presence of a large African community and the growing business and tourism ties with Africa,.” Tasew added: “The new flight further enhances the air connectivity between Africa and the U.S. and helps in fostering the economic, trade, tourism and diplomatic ties between the two regions. Going forward, we will continue to tap into opportunities for growing our services to more destinations in the U.S.”

Ethiopian Airlines’ passenger services to the United States include flights to Chicago and two airports in New York, in addition to flights to Washington DC.
