Emirates is spending more than $2 billion to enhance the in-flight traveler experience, including a new “Fly Better” program to refurbish the interiors of more than 120 passenger aircraft in addition to a number of other cabin upgrades.

The airline’s $2 billion investment would be used mostly to renovate the cabins of its planes.

Emirates stated in a statement on August 10, 2022 that it plans to upgrade cabins with new or reupholstered chairs as well as new paneling, carpeting, and other amenities. The announcement also stated that the airline’s goal is to outfit all 120 of its aircraft with Premium Economy seats.

In November 2022, the first Emirates aircraft will arrive at the Emirates Engineering Center for an upgrade.

“While others respond to industry pressures with cost cuts, Emirates is flying against the grain and investing to deliver ever better experiences to our customers,” said Emirates President, Sir Tim Clark. “Through the pandemic, we’ve continued to launch new services and initiatives to ensure our customers travel with assurance and ease, including digital initiatives to improve customer experiences on the ground.”

Additionally, Emirates will revamp its in-flight entertainment system and offer an updated menu of movie snacks, which will feature favorites like lobster rolls, sliders, edamame beans, and salted popcorn.

“All passengers can also curate their own ice experience before their flight, simply by browsing and pre-selecting movies or TV shows on the Emirates app, which can then be synced to ice the moment they board, maximizing the seamless travel experience,” Emirates explained.
