Emirates has introduced its first passenger flight between Dubai and Miami. When the airline’s four-times-a-week flight touched down in Miami at 11:00 a.m. local time yesterday, it marked the start of its four-times-a-week operation.
Emirates aircraft EK213 was greeted by a water cannon salute at Miami International Airport, attracting an audience of aviation aficionados and guests. The airline used its famed Boeing 777 Gamechanger for the inaugural trip. Following that, the airline will operate its Boeing 777-300ER on the route four times each week.
Along with Orlando, the new Miami service adds another access point to and from Florida, bringing Emirates’ US network to 12 destinations with over 70 weekly flights.
“We are thrilled to welcome new Emirates flights to Miami International Airport as we increase business and leisure travel alternatives for Miami-Dade residents and visitors, connecting them with new cultures and developing economies,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Welcoming new guests from Dubai and adding to our increasing list of global destinations helps to solidify MIA as a global hub.”
“With the greater access that the new Miami service provides, we expect it to generate high demand, enhancing business, cruising, and leisure traffic, and forging more economic and tourism ties between both cities and beyond,” said Essa Sulaiman Ahmed, Emirates’ divisional vice president, USA and Canada. We are committed to expanding our activities inside the United States.”
