After being instructed to limit capacity at London Heathrow, Emirates will increase its flight schedule from London Gatwick over the next weeks.

According to a statement released on July 22, 2022, the Dubai-based airline would use a Boeing 777 to add a third daily flight from LGW from July 27 to August 3, 2022, “to help service high demand.”

“It will also provide additional seats to accommodate Emirates passengers affected by capacity adjustments on flights from London Heathrow, which will be made to help ease operational pressures at the airport,” Emirates continued.

Emirates and Heathrow came to an agreement on July 15, 2022, to limit sales for flights departing from LHR until mid-August after first rejecting Heathrow’s request that airlines halt selling tickets for flights in order to relieve pressure on the understaffed airport.

“Emirates is grateful for the support of London Gatwick Airport, along with other partners on the ground who have been working closely with the airline to secure sufficient ground handling resources to deal with the additional demand and provide passengers with a smooth and reliable journey,” the airline added in the statement.

The airline announced that it will maintain its six daily flights to and from London Heathrow during this time and also reaffirmed the anticipated August 1 resumption of daily services to London Stansted.
