A Grodno Aviakompania Antonov AN-12BK, registration EW-518TI, was on approach to Irkutsk’s runway 30 with 7 crew and cargo consisting of food and consumer products when the crew attempted a go-around due to weather at about 240 meters/790 feet AGL about 2nm from the runway threshold.

The radar and radio communication was lost shortly after, around 19:45L. (11:45Z). The plane was later discovered crashed and burning in the town of Pivovarikha, some 1.7 nautical miles east-southeast of the runway 30 threshold. The collision took the lives of all seven crew members.
On November 4th, 2021, ATC representatives reported that the aircraft’s altitude indication changed from 240 to roughly 120 meters AGL within 3-4 seconds of the crew announcing the go around, and then the aircraft tag disappeared from the screen.
The aircraft had 7 persons on board, according to the Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK), and was destroyed by Grodno Airlines’ An-12BK EW-518TI. An investigation has been launched by the MAK.
Both black boxes were discovered on November 4th, 2021.
On November 4th, 2021, it was revealed that there were 9 individuals on board the aircraft, according to the Grodno Airlines load manifest: 5 crew and 4 people escorting the cargo.
Investigators are looking into possible theories of icing of the elevator/horizontal stabilizer causing loss of control as a result of freezing rain on November 4th, 2021, according to Russian media.
