On August 23, 2022, a Cathay Pacific A350 experienced a gear retraction issue and had to make an emergency landing at Manchester airport (MAN) in the United Kingdom.
The B-LXN aircraft, with the destination of Hong Kong (HKG), departed Manchester at 1300 local time (1200 UTC) but the pilots encountered difficulties lowering the landing gear after takeoff and decided to return to the airport for an emergency landing.
The gear began to retract after takeoff, then it moved back down in a live video feed of the plane’s takeoff that was posted to YouTube by the Macc Aviation channel.
At 1424 local time, the A350 made a safe landing at Manchester on runway 23L, where it was met by fire vehicles as is standard for this kind of landing.
