The newly formed, entirely Canadian leisure airline, Canada Jetlines Operations, has announced that it has been given economic authorization by the US Department of Transportation to operate within the US.

This exemption is now in effect, and a long-term foreign air carrier permit will take its place. Prior to beginning service to the United States, Canada Jetlines must receive approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The company anticipates that this procedure will be finished before the end of the year.

The announcement comes after Canada Jetlines announced that beginning in December 2022, a new route will depart from its hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and provide direct service to Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

The new service, which runs twice weekly with increased frequency before the new year, connects the lower mainland and southern Ontario in an effort to make domestic travel inside Canada more accessible.

“We are looking forward to expand our international network, as the U.S. is a top market for Canadian travellers” stated Eddy Doyle, President & CEO Canada Jetlines. “With the winter months fast approaching, we know sun destinations will be a priority for leisure travel and we intend to announce our first international destination later this month.”
