On landing at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport, bird ingestion occurred on a British Airways Airbus A380 (MAD).

On November 28, 2021, the incident occurred. The aircraft, with the registration G-XLEF, was flying the BA462 route between London Heathrow (LHR) and MAD.

A bird was ingested into the inboard left engine as the plane approached (No. 2). At 6.35 p.m. CET, the plane touched down safely (17:35 GMT).

According to Airlive, passengers who were scheduled to fly back to LHR on the same plane one and a half hours later were told that their trip had been rescheduled until the next day.

The airplane remains grounded in Madrid, according to Radarbox data as of early morning November 29, 2021.

The British Airways Airbus A380 registered G-XLEF is the same that suffered a peculiar incident on March 13, 2016. En route from Johannesburg O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) to LHR, a water leak occurred on the upper deck.

The water then dripped down to the main deck, drenching people and collecting on the floor. The airplane landed normally, according to the Aviation Herald, with just little damage to the passengers’ baggage.
