Due to a medical emergency on board, a British Airways Airbus A380 operating flight BA54 was forced to divert to Barcelona.
The Airbus A380, registered as G-XLEE, was planned to touch down at LHR On November 7, 2022, around 7:45 a.m. local time.
The plane, however, made a detour to Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN) after squawking the general emergency code, 7700, and touched down there at about 6:30 AM local time (GMT +1).
British Airways said in response to a question on social media that the detour was brought on by a medical emergency on board.
The airline explained that “our aircraft diverted to Barcelona to provide medical assistance to a customer”.
Flight BA54 left BCN almost three hours later, according to the flight tracking website flightradar24.com, and arrived at LHR at 9:24 a.m. local time.
For the past week, the nine-year-old plane has been making frequent trips between London and San Francisco as well as Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
