Breeze Airways has stated that it will buy 20 more A220 planes from Airbus, bringing its total order book to 80 planes.
The announcement came as the airline presented the livery for the first of its A220 jets, which had just arrived from Airbus’ Mobile final assembly facility in Alabama, United States.
Breeze’s first A220 is scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2021, and the airline plans to begin flying with the plane in the second quarter of 2022, according to a statement issued by Airbus on September 13, 2021. Over the next six and a half years, Airbus expects to deliver one A220 every month to the US airline.
The order for 20 A220 planes had previously gone unnoticed, although it was predicted after an earlier update to Airbus’ order book this year revealed another 20 A220s with an unnamed buyer.
Breeze Airways began operations in May 2021. It has a fleet of ten Embraer E190s and three E195s.
