Police at Gatwick Airport responded to a ‘bomb threat’ today, stranding travelers on the runway surrounded by armed officers.
According to one traveler, cops spent five hours examining passengers and their bags but found nothing untoward.

BBC South East reporter Poppy Jeffery tweeted: “Gatwick Airport says an apparent bomb threat was made this morning to a Turkish Airlines flight. The threat was not credible and they say there was minimal disruption to services. An investigation is now underway.”
Passengers said they were stuck on the runway, and many used Twitter to keep others informed about what was going on. Antonello Guerrera, a journalist, said his aircraft to Rome was being delayed before takeoff.
“We have just been notified by the plane captain that we are unable to take off due to a “ongoing emergency” at Gatwick Airport,” he tweeted.
Gatwick Airport is experiencing an “ongoing emergency,” according to Sussex Police, with planes stuck on the tarmac waiting to depart.
