The Federal Aviation Administration said that a Transair Boeing 737 freighter carrying two persons performed an emergency landing on water.

On July 2, 2021, a Boeing 737-200 cargo jet operated by Rhoades Aviation was en way from Honolulu International Airport (HNL) to Kahului Airport (OGG) in Hawaii when the incident occurred. The freighter departed for the flight at roughly 1.33 a.m. (UTC), according to flight history data found by Flightradar24.com, but did not arrive at its final destination.

The cargo plane apparently had an engine trouble and had to make an emergency landing on sea near Honolulu’s coast due to unexplained causes.

Both crew members were later rescued, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The pilots had reported engine failure and were attempting to return to Honolulu when they were forced to land the plane in the sea, according to a statement from the US regulator.

The N810TA cargo plane was 46 years old on the day of the incident, according to Planespotters.com statistics.
