According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, Chinese officials discovered the black box of China Eastern Airlines MU5735 flight on March 23, 2022. It was discovered that the black box was a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR).
On March 21, 2022, a Boeing 737-800 airplane carrying 132 passengers on board flight MU5735 from Kunming to Guangzhou crashed in the Guangxi highlands of southern China.
Mao Yanfeng, the chief of the Civil Aviation Administration of China’s (CAAC) accident investigation department, revealed the black box’s exterior was substantially damaged during a press conference on March 23, 2022.
All three pilots were in good health, according to Mao, and their medical documents were up to date. The weather on the day of the incident posed no hazard to the Boeing 737-800, according to the CAAC official.

The Xinhua news agency posted photos of one of the black boxes found by Chinese investigators on its Twitter account. The second black box has yet to be discovered.
