A British Airlines pilot died at the crew hotel soon before taking control of an aircraft to London-Heathrow Airport after collapsing at the hotel
The Sun claims that the experienced pilot had a heart attack as he prepared to take the Airbus A321 from Cairo, Egypt.
The British Airways veteran was able to leave his room and seek support in the foyer of the hotel despite him experiencing cardiac arrest.
According to reports, the pilot’s colleagues attempted CPR to save him, but regrettably, they were unsuccessful.
Later, the trip to London was delayed, and a Boeing 787 was used to return the pilot to the UK.
The man’s next of kin have been informed by British Airways according to reports.
“Our thoughts are with our colleagues’ friends and family at this very sad time,” British Airways said in a statement.
