American Airlines will cancel around 3300 flight attendants’ leave and rehire them for the holiday season.

“Increasing consumer demand and new flights commencing later this year mean we need more flight attendants to operate this airline,” says Brady Byrnes, vice president of flight service. Byrnes also stated that the re-enlisted crew would begin flying in November or December.

According to an American airline official, in addition to recalling its flight attendants, the carrier plans to hire approximately 800 extra new cabin crew members by March.

As the virus spread, airlines were forced to extend long-term leave to its personnel. American Airlines and several other carriers put employees on leave to save money, but they suddenly need more crews to meet increased travel demand.

Delta CEO Ed Bastin also stated that the airline would hire between 4000 and 5000 people this year. The airline also intends to hire 1000 reservation agents before the end of the year. Delta will add around 1000 pilots, as well as customer service, cargo, and airport staff, by the end of the summer.

This demonstrates that travel in the United States is increasingly improving. As more individuals become vaccinated, travel has returned to pre-pandemic levels, and all airline personnel should be available to deal with this surge.
