For its regional fleet, Alaska Air Group is acquiring up to 21 brand-new Embraer E175 aircraft, the firm revealed at the Farnborough Airshow.

According to list prices, the agreement is worth $1.12 and includes a definite order for eight aircraft from Horizon Air as well as options for an additional 13 aircraft.

The 76-seat aircraft will be supplied over a four-year period beginning in the second quarter of 2023.

The additional order follows Alaska’s March announcement of plans to accelerate fleet modernization, which will see Horizon Air switch to an entirely E175-equipped fleet.

Alaska Airlines accelerates the transition to an all-Boeing fleet for mainline operations.

“The E175 is an extremely efficient aircraft,” said Nat Pieper, senior vice president of fleet, finance, and alliances for Alaska Airlines, in a statement on July 19, 2022. “The jet is the perfect aircraft to serve Horizon’s regional network in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.”

Nine E175s are scheduled to be delivered to Horizon throughout the course of the upcoming year as part of an earlier deal that also calls for three deliveries in 2025. By 2026, or possibly before, Embraer estimates that Horizon will have a fleet of 50 E175s thanks to the new contract.

From July 18–22, 2022, the Farnborough Airshow will take place.
