According to the airline’s market filing on January 3, 2022, AirAsia Group, Asia’s well-known low-cost carrier, which has been in operation since 1993, plans to rename its firm Capital A.
The planned name change was accepted by the Malaysian Companies Commission (CCM), a statutory authority that oversees the country’s commercial affairs.
To change its name to Capital A, however, AirAsia Group’s board of directors needs receive approval from the airline’s shareholders at a “day to be disclosed later” general meeting.
The AirAsia Group’s portfolio includes more than just airline services. However, the corporation has not yet revealed the reason for the change in its long-standing name.
AeroTime reached out to AirAsia Group for comment, but the airline declined to provide any additional information, stating that the airline’s decision would be communicated in due time.
