Around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue units were quickly called to the scene to evaluate the situation after the plane clipped the wing of an Emirates aircraft while in motion.

Air Transat reported in a statement that during taxiing at MIA, the wing tip of their aircraft flying flight TS 948 experienced damage. They claimed that the plane touched the wing of the Emirates plane as it was moving at a very low speed.

Transat passengers were able to disembark at their gate, however Emirates passengers were forced to disembark and the airline made arrangements for them to join another aircraft on Thursday.

The incident happened the day after FLL was completely closed due to catastrophic flooding in Broward County, forcing incoming flights to be diverted to other neighboring airports.

The incident is currently the subject of an investigation.
