Customers will soon be able to book transatlantic travel including both carriers on one ticket with through-checked bags thanks to an agreement between Air Transat and WestJet, two of Canada’s major airlines.
Consumers will have additional options thanks to the collaboration, which will allow carriers to provide transatlantic codeshare connections in addition to their own flights.
To enable both carriers to offer linking transatlantic itineraries, WestJet’s code will be placed on select Air Transat flights to select locations in Europe, and Air Transat’s code will be placed on select WestJet flights in North America.
The codeshare deal is expected to go into effect in early 2022, pending all necessary regulatory approvals. Once everything is in place, we’ll send out more information and advantages.
