Due to an engine oil leak in midflight, an Air India Boeing 777-300ER was forced to divert to Stockholm, Sweden.

When it was forced to divert to Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN), Sweden, the Boeing 777-300ER, registered VT-ALK, was operating Air India flight AI106 from New York Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). The widebody jet’s pilots had to turn off the right-side power plant because of the oil leak.

Local media sources state that during the ground examination after the plane had arrived at ARN, oil was observed dripping from the drain pole. The situation will be looked into by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

According to information from flightradar24.com, the Boeing 777-300ER that touched down at ARN on February 21, 2023, was still there as of the time of writing.
