An Eva Air Airbus A321-200, registration B-16227, carrying 146 passengers and 12 crew on flight BR-20 from Taipei (Taiwan) to Guam (Guam), touched down on Guam’s runway 06R at 15:35L (05:35Z) when the tail contacted the runway surface and the crew rejected landing and went around.
The plane climbed to 3000 feet, repositioned for another approach to runway 24L, and landed safely about 20 minutes later.
The plane was unable to continue on schedule and complete the return flight. The return flight had to be canceled.
The airline confirmed that the plane collided with the runway surface while landing in Guam. Fortunately, the crew was able to get the plane airborne again and land safely. The airplane had to be decommissioned.
The following day, a replacement aircraft will be despatched to Guam.
