At New York-La Guardia Airport, a Boeing 737 operated by American Airlines collided with a tow truck as it was being towed.

While being towed, a Boeing 737-800 with the registration N949NN collided with the tow vehicle, which then became trapped under the center fuselage of the aircraft.

The aircraft was empty, and the incident did not result in any injuries to the tugger. A nearby hospital received the tug driver for observation.

According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the jet was towed back to the hangar for inspection, and passengers were flown to Charlotte, North Carolina, aboard a replacement aircraft.

“Safety is our highest priority, and we’ve launched an internal investigation to learn more,” said the Port Authority and American Airlines emails.
